What Does Valentine's Day mean to a Woman?

My husband, who is tightening the purse strings because there is a recession tells me that the tradition of Valentine's Day is for a young man to send a card to his love anonymously; declaring his love without being exposed.
He tried to convince me that it's not for sending flowers and taking wives out to dinner.
I responded: "If you buy me long stemmed red roses and take me out to dinner, it will make me very happy and I will know that you love me as much as you did when we were courting".
"Commercialism" he said, "that's what Valentine's Day has become". However despite his protestations, like all the other men who have made bookings in advance, I would be very surprised if he would dare to ignore such an important day.
However try making a restaurant booking for Valentine's Day the day before or try to buy roses on the day. Everything is booked. Whether it's commercialism or not it means a lot to a woman who is loved and it probably means as much to the women who is missing out.
An even nicer surprise may be to don and apron, set the table and cook for favourite dish!
