Does he/she Qualify as a Lifelong Partner?

Researching the single women or single men can be exciting. To discover a person's good qualities, one has to start looking for them.

When you are searching for Easter eggs in the garden, you don't collect stones, you stick with Easter eggs. When searching for good qualities, don't end up with a collection of negatives.

With each single woman or single man you meet, try to discover 10 good points about her/him. In no time you will be able to come up with many more good points. Finding good points is like finding treasures.

You will meet single men or single women who wear their hearts on their sleeves and make you aware of all their good points in the first half hour.

However it's much more fun to do your own research. Digging below the surface to find the real person is an art and takes practice.

The more you do it, the more you will discover. It is no different to the treasure hunt – each good point or win leads to something more exciting.

Some people have a flair for being able to quickly discover the good in others whilst others need to practise. Practise on everyone.

Don't wait for Mr/Ms Right or otherwise when he/she appears you may be so inexperienced at digging deep that you will probably fail miserably and miss out.

Start with the researching exercise above, as you develop a friendship you can discover their beliefs and values. Developing friendships is easy this way. Most people want you to take a genuine interest in them and thus lead to friendships.

When you have become friends, you will feel more comfortable to ask how they feel about issues that matter to you.

Issues such as the boat people controversy, the Australian aboriginal situation, contraception for women in third world countries, stem cell research and global warming to name just a few. Don't phrase your question, "What do you think?", but instead ask, "How do you feel about . . .?"

You will not always make a friend nor always be able to dig below the surface but when you do you will be amazed not only at how powerful this exercise can be but also how much you can learn about a person – their true worth.

Once you have mastered the art of qualifying people you will never judge a book by its cover again. You will be amazed at how quickly you can discover who is a prospect for your attention and who is not; and have some interesting conversations while doing so.
